An article in the Feb. 9 edition of Tax Notes headlined, "The Thorndike Challenge," by tax historian Joseph J. Thorndike, mentioned a clever phrase coined by Professor Marjorie Kornhauser.
   
"Some presidents and vice presidents - notably George W. Bush and Dick Cheney - have been reluctant to do a fiscal Fully Monty (a tip to Arizona State law Prof. Marjorie E. Kornhauser for the felicitous phrasing)," Thorndike wrote.

He referred to a paper Kornhauser published in 2005 in the Canadian Journal of Law and Jurisprudence, "Doing the Full Monty: Will Publicizing Tax Information Increase Compliance?"

Kornhauser, who joined the College of Law faculty in 2006, researches the intersection of federal income taxation and society, and explores the philosophical, social, political, gendered and historical aspects of taxation.
