| Paul Bender | Professor Paul Bender and State Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix, an alumna of the College of Law, recently were quoted in an article, "State lawmakers try to halt health care changes," published in the San Luis Obispo Tribune.
The article, by reporter Jacques Billeaud, discusses a pushback by various states, including Arizona, to President Obama's health-care reform initiative.
"My sense is that if they (Congress) pass a comprehensive reform bill, it would probably pre-empt what the state is doing," Bender said.
Sinema said Arizona is not in danger of becoming a home for socialized medicine, as some critics have feared.
"Arizona? Really? We are the most libertarian state in the country," said Sinema, who also believes any state changes will be made moot by a federal overhaul.
