The Center for Law, Science & Innovation announces the following conferences and lectures for 2009-2010. Check back often for additional events and details.
Frank X. Curci, Member of Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, P.L.C., will deliver a lecture on Tuesday, February 9: "Innovation Life Sciences Collaborations and Consortia as Models for Growth." The lecture will be held in Room 114 from 12:10 - 1 p.m. and is sponsored by the Law and Science Student Association.
Kraig J. Marton, a shareholder at Jaburg Wilk, Attorneys at Law, will give a talk on Tuesday, February 16 from 12:10 - 1 p.m. in Room 114: "Representing Health Care Professionals with Drug and Alcohol Issues." Sponsored by the Law and Science Student Association.
Benjamin H. Grumbles, Director, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, will talk on "Environmental Quality in Arizona." The talk will take place on Tuesday, February 23 from 12:10 - 1 p.m. in Room 114, sponsored by the Law and Science Student Association.
Nancy Cummings, Of Counsel, Mayo Clinic, will deliver a presentation on Tuesday, March 2: "Health Care in a Hospital Setting: Issues of Quality and Transparency." Sponsored by the Law and Science Student Association, the presentation will be held from 12:10 - 1 p.m. in Room 114.
"Personalized Medicine in the Clinic: Policy, Legal and Ethical Implications," the third in a series of colloquia held across the nation to examine the impact of personalized medicine on the delivery of healthcare in the future. It will feature top experts discussing individualized medical care, liability issues for physicians, patient rights, medical privacy and confidentiality, ethics and economics and much more. The conference is hosted by the Center for Law, Science & Innovation, Mayo Clinic, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Food and Drug Law Institute (FDLI), on March 8-9, 2010, at the Arizona Biltmore, Phoenix. Fredric D. Bellamy, Partner, Steptoe & Johnson, LLP, will present a talk on "Climate Change Litigation: Hot Air or the Coming Flood?" on Tuesday, March 23 from 12:10 - 1 p.m. in Room 114, sponsored by the Law and Science Student Association.
Braden R. Allenby, Lincoln Professor of Engineering and Ethics Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and of Law, Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering, ASU, will present "Emerging Technologies, Military Operations, and National Security" at a lecture sponsored by the Law and Science Student Association. Tuesday, April 6 from 12:10 - 1 p.m. in Room 114.
National Summit on Law and Sustainability: A group of law professors and humanities academics will discuss the meaning/significance of sustainability and explore law as a means to promote a sustainable future. This event will take place on Friday, April 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at The Buttes, A Marriott Resort in Tempe.
