Jennifer Barnes
Director of the Clinical Program
Director of the Civil Justice Clinic


Jennifer Barnes is an advocate for equal justice both in the classroom and the courtroom, where she trains and supervises student lawyers, and in the community, where she donates her time to the help low-income individuals obtain legal services. As director of the Clinical Program, Professor Barnes oversees the College’s eight clinics; in her role as director of the Civil Justice Clinic, she manages caseloads, responds to public inquiries, and fundraises for client expenses. She also co-teaches the Civil Justice Clinic course. Under her leadership, the Civil Justice Clinic recently received the top award from the Volunteer Lawyers Program for providing legal services to Arizonans who've been victims of foreclosure rescue scams.

 

Professor Barnes is co-president of the Board of Directors of Community Legal Services, an Arizona not-for-profit law firm that promotes equal access to justice for all. She recently was named one of the Top 50 Pro Bono Attorneys in Arizona. Professor Barnes received the “Outstanding Teaching Award” from the graduating class of 2004. Before joining the College in 2001, she was a trial attorney for 14 years.
