Assistant Dean of Institutional Operations
Chris Baier was appointed Dean of Institutional Affairs in February, 2003. His primary responsibility is to oversee the administration, budget and finances of the College of Law. Chris arrived at ASU after a successful tenure as Deputy Director of the Arizona Department of Commerce, where he supervised more than 100 employees and directed a budget in excess of $30 million. Chris, who is both an attorney and a CPA, clerked for Arizona State Supreme Court Justice Robert Corcoran and later served as a Deputy County Attorney in Maricopa County, where he prosecuted felony cases in the criminal trial division. Prior to attending law school, Chris was a senior accountant and auditor for Coopers and Lybrand. Chris was graduated with honors from Villanova University with a degree in accounting and then received his juris doctor with high honors from the University of Arizona, where he was the research editor of the Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif.
