Associate Clinical Professor
Susan Chesler teaches Legal Method & Writing, Contract Drafting and Negotiating, and other upper-level lawyering skills courses. Prior to joining the faculty in 2008, Professor Chesler taught Legal Methods, Drafting Contracts, Contracts and Advanced Bar Studies at Widener University School of Law. At Widener, she also was the faculty advisor to the Moot Court Honor Society, coached student mock-trial activities, and conducted workshops as part of the Academic Success program. Before entering the teaching professor full time, Professor Chesler was an adjunct at New York Law School, Director of Human Resources for a child welfare organization, and a litigation attorney in New York City, specializing in environmental law, insurance defense, and legal malpractice. Professor Chesler is a member of the Legal Writing Institute and other professional organizations focusing on teaching and promoting the use of plain language in the practice of law. She regularly presents at national and regional conferences on different topics, such as using technology in the classroom, teaching drafting and negotiating skills, and other legal writing topics. In her spare time, Professor Chesler enjoys outdoor activities and restoring old furniture. She is looking forward to exploring and hiking the Sonoran Desert with her two Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
