Security, Policy and Law Fellowship

The Center works with the Center for Law, Science & Innovation and ASU’s Strategic Defense and Systems Initiative to support several law students who work as Security, Policy and Law Fellows. The Fellows work with law faculty as well as faculty and staff at SDSI on a variety activities including: research; conference and workshop planning; and, preparing publications on law, policy and security issues. In the 2011-2012 academic year, Fellows assisted with the planning and management of an annual conference on the law and policy issues associated with directed energy weapons involving high-ranking officials from the military, scientists and academics from various disciplines. The Security, Policy and Law Fellows also support ongoing work at the Center related to drones, remote targeting, military robots and legal issues associated with new technologies. Fellows receive compensation for their time and are expected to work 10 to 15 hours per week during the academic year.
