Kaye quoted in `USA Today'

     David Kaye, professor at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, was quoted in the March 26 issue of USA Today, in an article headlined, "Local DNA labs avoid state and U.S. laws to nab criminals."

     The story, by reporter Richard Willing, outlines a growing practice among police labs to add DNA from suspects to databases operating outside state and federal law to help solve more crimes. Proponents say no laws forbid it, but opponents say searching a suspect's DNA violates privacy rights.

     "It's a cloudy area," Kaye told Willing.
