An article in the quarterly publication, ACResolution, included comments from Art Hinshaw, an associate clinical professor at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and director of its Lodestar Dispute Resolution Program.
Author Carol Marshall, a California attorney and arbitrator, writes about the College's dedication to advancing alternative dispute resolution education in the article titled, "Are We There Yet? Developments in Conflict Resolution." She quotes Hinshaw as saying negotiation courses are the most important among the College's array of ADR classes, and she mentions a conflict theory course that concentrates on the sources and nature of conflict.
Asked about the hesitancy on the part of some in the academic community to embrace ADR as an important part of the law-school curriculum, Hinshaw replied there hasn't yet been enough quality scholarship about the topic to engender academic respect.
