Professor Guy Cardineau

     Law professor Guy Cardineau was quoted in the Fall 2007 issue of TechConnect in an article about the prospects of producing vaccines in plants.
     The story, written by RaeAnne Marsh and titled, “Vaccines on the Vine,” relates the details of a collaboration between the ASU Biodesign Institute, where Cardineau also is a research professor, and the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center at the University of Arizona. The institute is among more than 100 laboratories around the world that work with technology to express a range of pharmaceutical proteins in plants.
     “If we can marry our molecular biotechnology with their production technology, we can produce sufficient amount of tomatoes in a contained environment to be cost-effective and compete well with other production systems,” Cardineau said of the partnership.
