The American Mock Trial Association is the national organization overseeing intercollegiate mock trial competition from coast to coast. The AMTA services over 300 member institutions and approximately 620 competitive teams from more than 40 states and territories. Cool will serve a two-year probationary term prior to being inducted as a full member.
Cool sees his election as an opportunity to serve students both locally and nationally.
"The Association is instrumental in providing opportunities for advocacy education to undergraduate students," Cool said. "Its activities inspire many students to go on to law school and to pursue careers in advocacy."
Cool hopes his membership on the board will enable him to increase the profile of the law college and ASU generally.
"It is a unique opportunity for the law school to host AMTA-sanctioned events and to attract some of the nation's best and brightest advocates thereby helping to ensure the long-term success of the college."
Cool is the only Arizonan on the 37-member board.
