Professor Robert Bartels was quoted in an Associated Press article, “Cases lining up against Arizona immigration law in legal process that could take years,” which was published in the July 21 issue of the Los Angeles Times.

The article, by Paul Davenport, was a preview of a federal court hearing in Phoenix on July 22, where U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton presided over two of seven lawsuits that have been filed against SB 1070. Davenport wrote about the possibility of a consolidation of the legal challenges.

“Then it’s like one giant lawsuit,” Bartels said. “When cases are consolidated, it’s as if all of the plaintiffs sued together with separate counsel. Those lawyers might eventually come to an agreement about who’s going to take the lead.”
