Bayham writes on lawyer discipline system

04/06/2010
Alan Bayham, partner at Bayham Jerman PLC, a ’76 alumnus of the College of Law and president-elect of the State Bar of Arizona, explains how the Arizona Supreme Court lawyer discipline system works and describes improvements made to the process in a Phoenix Business Journal article, “The Arizona Lawyer Discipline System: Protection of the Public.”

“The purpose of lawyer discipline is to protect the public and instill in the public confidence in the regulatory process. It also serves to maintain the integrity of the profession and deter lawyers from engaging in misconduct,” says Bayham.

Bayham advises that those who have lost funds due to an attorney’s unlawful conduct make a claim to the Client Protection Fund, which is administered by the State Bar.
