McWhirter writing on history of Eighth Amendment
04/25/2010
Robert J. McWhirter, senior lawyer at the Maricopa Legal Defender’s Office and an ’88 alumnus of the College of Law, has written 2 recent articles in
Arizona Attorney
magazine entitled, “Baby Don’t Be Cruel: What’s So ‘Cruel & Unusual’ About the Eighth Amendment?,” that provide a look at the Eighth Amendment’s history.
The “Baby Don’t Be Cruel” articles are footnoted with examples of various punishments, including illustrations, that will tickle the reader’s morbid curiosity, and are based on a book McWhirter is writing,
History Behind the History of the Bill of Rights
.
