Scott Gibson, managing partner at Gibson Ferrin, PLC, an alumnus (J.D.,1986), (LL.M. in Biotechnology and Genomics, 2007), was quoted in a press release on ‘Earthtimes.org’ about the federal Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) of 2008.

“The recent advances in genetics have made it possible to discern incredible amounts of information from genetic tests,” says Gibson.

The release, “Mesa/Phoenix Law Firm Counsels Employers to Avoid Genetic Discrimination” reminds employers that the law, which went into effect Nov. 21, 2009, requires them to post new EEO posters with the GINA information. It prohibits employment discrimination based on genetic information.
