Dr. John Shufeldt, founder and CEO of NextCare Inc., an ’05 alumnus of the College of Law and ’93 MBA graduate of ASU, was interviewed on his urgent care clinics being awarded a number 1 ranking by the Phoenix Business Journal in the weekly’s February 19 issue.

Shufeldt’s clinics were opened in 1993 under the name of Arizona Family Urgent Care when he noticed that patients needed an alternative to using emergency rooms for non-life-threatening injuries. NextCare Inc. now runs 56 clinics in six states, 20 of them in Arizona.

In 2008 Shufeldt established a scholarship in honor of his close friend and law professor, Dan Strouse, and NextCare Urgent Care donated a $1 million grant to fund the NextCare Urgent Care Family Violence Legal Clinic, which will be housed at the Diane Halle Center for Family Justice at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law.
