Sims one of ‘NLJ’s’ most influential lawyers

Joe Sims, partner at Jones Day’s Washington, D.C., offices and a ’70 alumnus of the College of Law, was chosen as one of The National Law Journal’s “Decade’s Most Influential Lawyers” it’s reported in a March special issue.

Sims was named under NLJ’s antitrust category for his work on acquisitions and mergers among some well-known companies. He represented America Online Inc. in its acquisition of Time Warner Inc.; Sims won in the merger between R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Brown & Williamson; he managed the merger of SABMiller PLC and Molson Coors Brewing Co.; and more recently is representing Comcast Corp. in its bid for NBC Universal.

Sims regularly writes and lectures on antitrust and related subjects. He is listed in Chambers, Who's Who Legal, is recognized as a leading antitrust lawyer in The Best Lawyers in America and The World's Leading Lawyer, and is the only antitrust lawyer ever recognized (twice, in 2001 and 2009) as a “Dealmaker of the Year"” by The American Lawyer.
