Ellman to address family law conference at Tel Aviv University
will deliver a talk at a conference, “Rights and Obligations in the Contemporary Family: Retheorizing Individualism, Families and the State,” Dec. 15-17 at Tel Aviv University.
Ellman will discuss, “Lay Institutions about Family Obligations: The Case of Alimony,” during a Dec. 16 session chaired by Benjamin Shmueli, of the Bar Ilan University Law Faculty, with commentary by Daphna Hacker, of the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law and Women and Gender Studies Program.
The conference is co-sponsored by the University of Tel Aviv’s Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research on the Law, and Cornell University Law School.
Ellman’s current scholarly projects include an empirical investigation into how people make judgments about appropriate legal rules. He is a Willard H. Pedrick Distinguished Research Scholar and a Faculty Fellow in the College of Law’s Center for Law, Science & Innovation, an ASU Affiliate Professor of Psychology, and an affiliate faculty member of the Center for Child and Youth Policy at the University of California at Berkeley.
