Andy Hessick

Professor Andy Hessick will be a guest on Channel 8’s Horizon on Wednesday, Dec. 8, to discuss Arizona’s employer-sanctions law, which is scheduled to be heard that day by the U.S. Supreme Court. The program is slated to air at 7 p.m. on the local PBS affiliate.

The Legal Arizona Workers Act went into effect in January 2008 and gives prosecutors the power to revoke the business license of an employer found to have knowingly hired an illegal worker. The law was challenged by 11 business groups; lower courts have said the Arizona law is not pre-empted by federal law.
