Marchant speaks at University of Miami Global Business Forum
, ASU Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, Law and Ethics, and Executive Director of the College of Law’s Center for Law, Science & Innovation spoke at the 2011 Business of Health Care: Defining the Future forum hosted by the University of Miami, on Jan. 13 in Miami.
Marchant’s lecture was titled, “Emerging Technologies in Health Care.” The lecture explored the current transformations in the U.S. health care system and the legal, policy and ethical challenges associated with them.
Marchant’s research interests include the use of genetic information in environmental regulation, risk and the precautionary principle, legal aspects of personalized medicine, and regulation of emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, neuroscience and biotechnology. He teaches courses in Environmental Law, Law, Science and Technology, Genetics and the Law, Biotechnology: Science, Law and Policy, and Nanotechnology Law and Policy. He also is a Senior Sustainability Scientist at ASU’s Global Institute of Sustainability and professor in ASU’s School of Life Sciences.
