Berman quoted in ‘Journal’ article about law students’ job prospects
03/08/2011
Paul Berman
Dean
Paul Berman
was quoted in a March 4
Phoenix Business Journal
article entitled, “Recent law grads not immune from tough job market,” by reporter Linda Obele.
The article discussed the economic downturn’s effect on recent law school graduates and their ability to find jobs.
Berman argued that despite the economic downturn, law students were still able to find jobs in the legal field. He cited a recent survey of the College of Law’s Class of 2009 in which 99 percent of graduates reported being employed nine months after graduation.
“Most of the national stories about challenges in the legal job market focus on the 100 largest law firms in the country,” which hired heavily during the boom years and cut back when the economy crashed, Berman said. “The reality is, there are still legal jobs out there.”
