Mayes to moderate panel discussing sustainability

Kris Mayes
, Professor of Practice and Faculty Director of the College of Law’s new Program on Law and Sustainability, will moderate a panel during Valley Forward’s Livability Summit on Friday, April 8.
The panel entitled, “Making Sustainability Profitable Around the World,” will discuss how green business and technology are emerging as profitable investment opportunities and can help shape a strong economy.

Mayes served as an Arizona Corporation Commissioner from 2003 to 2010, and was its chairman for two years. While serving as Arizona Corporation Commissioner, Mayes co-authored Arizona’s Renewable Energy Standard, and focused on renewable energy transmission and water conservation. She also served as former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano’s Communications Director and was a political reporter at
