In "Law prof's mission is to make tax policy interesting," reporter Karen Sloan quoted Kornhauser as saying it's important to help young people starting out in life understand the way taxes are applied, their use and how a fair tax system can be devised. Just as (Ret.) U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's Our Courts program uses computer games to teach middle-school students about government, Kornhauser's program involves students in ASU's School of Computing and Informatics creating interactive game designs, tax-related videos and contests about taxes.
"People don't understand taxes," she said. "If we can make it into something fun, I think people will go to the site… To have a better debate, you need more informed people."
