Kate Rosier, director of the Indian Legal Program at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, talked about the program's special graduation ceremony in an article in the June 2 edition of
The State Press
, Arizona State University's student-run newspaper.
In the article, "A behind-the-scenes look at graduation festivities," by reporter Deanna Dent, Rosier said law students specializing in Indian law receive tribal-themed Pendleton blankets donated by David Montiel of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
The special graduation may take up to three hours because students and their families are encouraged to stand and give thanks and congratulations.
