The text provides detailed analysis of "hot" topics such as white-collar crime and the sentencing of organizations, and research-enhancing analysis of recent cases. The authors have examined factors used in determining the guideline range, nature of the offensive conduct, possible adjustments to the guideline sentence, defendant's criminal history, how a particular sentence is calculated, and procedures for plea agreements.
The book also includes appellate review of sentences and departures, and analyzes and explains each guideline in detail. It also features the official text of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and commentary issued by the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
