David Kaye
helped organize and chaired sessions at the Seventh International Conference on Forensic Inference and Statistics at the Institute of Forensic Science
, Aug. 20-23, at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.
Kaye, a Faculty Fellow in the College of Law's Center for the Study of Law, Science, & Technology and an ASU life sciences professor, chaired the plenary lecture and a session on scientific evidence in court, and also participated in a panel discussion, "Painting the target around the arrow: misuse of statistics to characterize DNA evidence."
The conference brought together diverse scientific communities involved in the various aspects of forensic interpretation and statistics, such as statisticians, forensic scientists, attorneys, members of the judiciary and others with an interest in quantitative methods and law.
