Hinshaw’s research featured in ‘Forbes’
09/06/2012
Research by Professor
Art Hinshaw
was recently featured in an article on Forbes.com.
Art Hinshaw
Titled “Men More Moral Negotiators Than Women,” the article examines a study done by Hinshaw and his colleague and fellow professor Jess K. Alberts. In it, the two surveyed more than 700 practicing lawyers by asking them if they would be willing to participate in fraudulent negotiations with clients.
“An unacceptably high number of lawyers indicate[d] they would be willing to engage in a fraudulent settlement negotiation scheme . . . if asked to do so by their client,” Hinshaw and Alberts wrote.
More interesting news came when survey revealed that among attorneys, a higher number of women are willing to commit the fraud than men. The article went on to say this could be due in part to a woman’s tendency towards compassion.
