Kader reviews book for ‘American Journal of Legal History’
09/28/2011
David Kader
Professor David Kader’s review of
Some Measure of Justice: The Holocaust Era Restitution Campaign of the 1990s
(University of Wisconsin Press, 2009), by Michael Marrus, was published in the July issue of the American Journal of Legal History.
Kader, also a Faculty Affiliate for the ASU Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, agreed with the general concepts of Marrus’ book, calling it “a small masterpiece.”
“In Marus’ concluding chapter evaluating the virtues and vices of the legal struggle for restitution to Holocaust survivors he rightly concludes that it was imperfect, that it was rough justice,” Kader said.
“Marrus’ study is captured in the five remarkably concise, dense, and informative chapters of his book.”
Marrus is a Canadian historian and Professor Emeritus of Holocaust Studies at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada.
Kader teaches in the areas of criminal procedure, torts, state constitutional law and religion and the Constitution. He served nine terms as president of the Phoenix Holocaust Survivors' Association.
