Karin quoted in Cronkite News
09/21/2011
Marcy Karin
Marcy Karin, Director of the Work-Life Policy Unit of the Civil Justice Clinic, was quoted in
Cronkite News
on Sept. 20 about veteran’s issues with transitioning from wartime to home.
Karin, Associate Clinical Professor of Law, said homelessness among veterans is a fixable problem.
“Figuring out what safe living environments are available on a more permanent basis allows people to have that steady location upon which they can base things like employment,” Karin told the Cronkite News.
Karin supervises and instructs student attorneys working on behalf of clients in the Civil Justice Clinic. Her research interests include workplace law, policy, and practice, civil justice and litigation, and women’s legal history. Karin is an active member of the national work-life law and policy community. She is regularly invited to speak about the role of thoughtful public policy, and is listed in the Sloan Network’s Who’s Who in Work and Family.
In 2003, Karin won the Burton Award for Legal Achievement in Writing for her Stanford Law Review article on Executive Order 13,233. Her most recent articles involve proposals to amend and analysis of statutory protections for time off for military families and victims of domestic violence.
