Mayes to participate in electricity roundtable
08/26/2011
Kris Mayes
Kris Mayes
, Faculty Director of the Program on Law and Sustainability, will participate in an electricity roundtable on Oct. 25 in San Francisco.
About 20 leading experts will work to “identify ‘best case’ solutions to ensure a sustainable future, taking into consideration changes in technology, business models, customer relationships and rate structures,” according to the event invitation.
Mayes, who teaches a course titled, “Utilities, Sustainability and the Law,” will interact with other experts for a case study working session that will focus on distinguishing questions and opportunities for electrical utilities.
The roundtable will also have participants discussing increasing the amount of zero-energy building, which stipulates buildings have no net energy consumption and no carbon emissions each year.
Rocky Mountain Institute, a sustainable design school based in Colorado, will host the roundtable.
Mayes, who has a Masters’ of Public Policy from Columbia University and a J.D. from the College of Law, helped co-author the Arizona Renewable Energy Standard while serving on the Arizona Corporation Commission from 2003-2010.
