The student computer labs serve the students of the College of Law and are not open to other ASU students or the public. It is essential that each student must observe and honor the needs of other students so that all law students receive an equal opportunity to use the resources of the lab. The primary use of the student computer labs is for projects and assignments related to classes offered at the College of Law. Students should not work on projects undertaken for profit or income from a non-university third party in the student lab.
Use of the student computer lab is controlled by the College of Law Student Honor Code and by the University Student Code of Conduct. Failure to abide by the posted policies will be considered a violation of the Honor Code and/or the Code of Conduct, and procedures provided therein will be applied. Sanctions range from suspension of some or all computer privileges to expulsion from the University. Students using the lab must also follow the ASU Computer, Internet, and Electronic Communications Policy.
Student computer lab hours are from the opening of the Law Library to 15 minutes before closing. Students must finish their work by 15 minutes before closing and log off their workstation. Items in the print queue will continue to be printed, but the lab doors will be closed at closing time.
No food or beverages allowed within the student computer labs. There are no exceptions. This policy protects the equipment from spills that could damage or destroy computer components.
Be courteous to fellow students using the lab and to all library staff. Abusive behavior toward other students or staff may result in suspension of privileges.
Misuse of the systems and use of the University's equipment for non-University related business may all be considered violations of the College of Law Honor Code and/or the University Student Code of Honor.
Students must exit the Library immediately when the fire alarm sounds. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. THE ONLY ACT PERMITTED AFTER THE SOUNDING OF A FIRE ALARM IS AN ACTION TO SAVE A DOCUMENT TO YOUR DISK, WHICH YOU SHOULD TAKE WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE THE BUILDING.
At various times, updated instructions for the system and notices concerning the operation of the system will be posted on the bulletin board in the lab. Additional flyers may be posted on the entrances to the lab for brief periods to call attention to these notices. All students will be responsible for knowing the information that is posted on this board.
The lab computers print to 3 HP laser jet 4350 printers located in the main student computer lab. Each law student has an allowance of 300 free pages per academic year (August 1 - July 31). Any printing over the 600-page limit will cost $0.10 per page. At the end of each semester, a list of printing charges will be sent to ASU Accounts Receivable for billing. The printing policy can be found here: Print Policy
PROBLEMS AND HELP:
If a system is not good working condition, the printer jams, or if you have a general question regarding Windows notify the LAW IT Help Desk. If no one is available and help is required immediately, the desk clerks in the Library can help track down the appropriate staff members.
