Printing at the Law School
As a service to our students we provide three HP laser jet printers in the Student Computer Lab. These may be used while using the desktop computers in the lab or for law students using their Windows based laptops. (Macs cannot print to the lab printers.)
At the beginning of each academic year (August 1 – July 31) each law student receives a printing allowance of 600 free pages. Any printing over the 600 page allowance will be billed to you at a charge of $0.10 per page. At the end of each semester, a list of law student printing charges is sent to ASU Accounts Receivable for billing. Accounts Receivable sends printing bills to all law students owing at least $10 for printing. Balances under $10 will be carried over into the next semester or academic year, and a bill will be sent if and when a student incurs at least $10 in printing charges. Bills that are past due incur a late fee of $12 per month, and if not paid after three months, ASU Accounts Receivable sends them to a collection agency. Students with delinquent accounts will not be able to request transcripts, but nonpayment will not affect a student's ability to graduate. See below for instructions on how to check for your current printing status.
We make every effort to keep the printers in good working order. Should you print pages that are illegible or are poor print quality, please bring those pages to the IT Help Desk. You may have those pages credited back to your account by filling out a form at the IT Help Desk, but you must attach all poor quality pages to the form. After we verify your request, we will credit your printing account the appropriate number of pages and notify you by e-mail of the outcome of the credit request. We will refund only for pages that have been turned in as proof of a bad print.
It is your responsibility to log on and off the computer you are using each time you use the lab. If you forget to log out and another student prints to your account, you are responsible for those pages. If you think another student knows your user ID and password, please contact the IT Help Desk at 965-8181 or in person.
Think carefully before printing because you will be charged for all print jobs. Consider the following tips:
Checking Your Printing Account:
Log on to http://www.law.asu.edu/interactive. Click on the Printing Information link, you will notice that you start off with -600 pages:
Canceling Print Jobs:
On the Start menu, go to Settings, then choose “Printers and Faxes.”
Locate the Student Lab Printer in the list, then double-click on it.
Locate and click on the print job you wish to cancel, then in the Menu bar at the top, choose “Document,” then “Cancel.” This will stop the job and prevent it from being counted. If your document does not appear there, it means it is already in the process of printing and cannot be cancelled.
