Foreign Educated Applicants for M.L.S./LL.M. Programs

All LL.M. applicants are required to use the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) LL.M. Credential Assembly Service (CAS.)  Applicants with foreign education credentials must purchase both the Document Assembly Service and the International Transcript Authentication and Evaluation Service.  To register, visit the LSAC website.

For M.L.S. applicants with foreign education credentials, please have all transcripts evaluated by the World Education Services (WES).  WES independently evaluates all academic documents issued in countries other than the United States. Please contact WES at their website to obtain an application for an evaluation. You must request a course-by-course evaluation and order that an official copy be sent directly to:

English Fluency

Applicants must meet the requirements of the Graduate College as well as those of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. If English is not your native language, you must provide evidence of English proficiency as indicated by acceptable scores. Applicants should have a TOEFL score above 600 (paper), 250 (computer), or 100 (Internet). Exceptional candidates with relevant experience and background who have scores of at least 590 (paper), 243 (computer) or 96 (internet) also will be considered. ASU's institutional code is 4007.

Financial Resources

International applicants must verify that they have the financial resources to cover their expenses during graduate study at ASU, as required by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. The Graduate Admissions Office provides the Financial Guarantee form to international applicants, who then must see that the form is completed, verified by a bank or sponsoring organization, and returned to the Graduate Admissions Office. The I-20 or IAP66 (documents needed to obtain a student visa) are issued only after the completed, properly verified guarantee form has arrived.
