M.L.S. Degree Requirements

Flexibility in course selection is a hallmark of the M.L.S. program. To provide an introduction to legal reasoning, the M.L.S. candidate is required to take U.S. Law and Legal Analysis, as well as Professional Legal Writing. In addition, the M.L.S. candidate must successfully complete at least two of the following foundational law classes:
  • Contracts
  • Constitutional Law
  • Criminal Law
  • Property
  • Torts
The remainder of the required 30 credit hours are electives which a student selects to complement his or her career interests and goals. For descriptions of diverse courses offered at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, click here.

A full-time student can complete the degree in one academic year. A part-time student may take up to 3 years to complete the MLS program.
