Requirements

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Pro Bono Board’s Summer Public Interest Fellowship award. Qualified applicants include students volunteering in public interest law this summer for at least 250 hours that otherwise would not get paid for their hard work and consequently could not afford to volunteer.

Students receiving a small stipend already are also eligible to apply.

Awards will vary in amount.

Public Interest includes areas of the law that represent disadvantaged and/or disenfranchised clients. Externships do not qualify for fellowships.
 

If awarded a Fellowship, subsequent requirements include:
  • a letter of verification from the organization stating that you have completed the minimum 250 hours between May 2013 and August 2013;
  • attendance at the Pro Bono Graduation Ceremony and Reception held on May 9, 2013; and
  • a brief essay describing your experience, which preferably includes a picture.
