Study Room Guidelines

Group Study Rooms

The law library has group study rooms available for the exclusive use of Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law JD, LLM, and MLS students, faculty, and COL alumni studying for the state bar exam.

Group Study Room Guidelines

  1. Study rooms are for the use of groups. Individuals may use any unoccupied room but must relinquish it to a larger group if needed.
  2. Study rooms may be reserved up to one week in advance in person at the Circulation Desk, online  through Law Interactive or by calling 480-965-6144. 
  3. Rooms may be reserved for a maximum of four hours in one day. Reserved rooms will be held for 15 minutes.
  4. Groups are limited to the maximum reservation time per day.  Reservations may not be made under multiple group members' names in order to extend use of a study room beyond the maximum time.  Consecutive reservations made for members of the same group will be cancelled.
  5. During the reading period and finals, the following guidelines apply: 3-4 person groups may reserve a room for a maximum of six hours per day and 5-6 person groups can reserve a room for a maximum of eight hours per day.  Individuals and people studying in pairs will be required to use 2 -person study rooms and will be limited to 4 hours per day.
  6. Room use may be extended provided the initial reservation period has expired, no other group has requested that particular room, and the volume of room use is not high. Rooms may NOT be extended during finals week.
  7. Study rooms keys are not to be removed from the law library. If you need to leave the building for a few minutes, there is a basket on the front counter in which to place the key. If you inadvertently leave the library with a study room key, please return it as soon as possible.
  8. Due to the heavy use of the study rooms, we must ask you to remove your personal belongings and turn in the study room key if you plan to be gone longer than 10 minutes. This means that if you are going to class, going out to lunch or to work out, you must check out of the study room.
  9. Food and smoking are prohibited. Only drinks in spill-resistant containers are allowed.
  10. The library is not responsible for any personal items stolen or damaged while left in an unattended study room. No library materials should be left in the study rooms. Doors should be left locked.
  11. Use of the library's study rooms is governed by the Study Room Conduct Code.

Under certain circumstances, study rooms may be reserved for individual use on a long term (semester) basis. Individuals who may qualify include visiting scholars and law students with special needs. Contact 480-965-4865 for more information.

All-Night Study Room

image The All-Night Study Room is for the exclusive use of Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law JD, LLM, and MLS students. Located in the northwest corner of the law library, it can be used as a study area during hours the Law Library is closed. 

Access to the All-Night Study Room is granted on a day-to-day basis. You may sign up for the room in person at the circulation desk or through  the Online Study Room Reservation  system.

After hours entrance to the All-Night Study Room is through the use of a code number controlled keypad at the outside entrance to the study room. You will receive the code when you sign up to use the room.

Library Conference Room and Classroom

A classroom that seats 40 and a conference room that seats 20 is available for use by College of Law affiliates. To check room availability or to reserve the Library Classroom or Conference Room, please visit the College of Law Events/Calendar page.
