Raj Abhyanker (Class of 2003), who heads his own international law firm, Legal Force, and designed a trademark search engine, Trademarkia, which earned $7.3 million in 2012, has been named a Legal Rebel by the ABA Journal.
The Journal writes about how Abhyanker’s parents, Indian immigrants who owned a computer store, went bankrupt, how Abhyanker left law school after one year because he didn’t like it and didn’t have enough money, and how other business ventures faltered before he returned to law school.
Abhyanker said he is grateful to the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law for its support, both financially and academically.
Dean Douglas J. Sylvester said Abhyanker was a great example of the limitless opportunities for those who never give up.
“Raj is an exceptional talent, and has shown an amazing ability to seek out entrepreneurial ways to use his legal education,” Sylvester said. “But even more impressive is his ability to handle adversity and the perseverance to create success. We are extremely proud of him.”
