Marchant presents at workshop for U.S. Magistrate Judges in Miami
ASU Regents’ Professor
, Faculty Director of the College of Law’s Center for Law, Science & Innovation, spoke at the Workshop for U.S. Magistrate Judges, held April 18-20, in Miami. Marchant’s presentation was titled, “Emerging Technologies, Law and Ethics.”
Marchant was joined by two dozen judges, professors and other speakers who talked about decisions in employment discrimination cases, psychopaths and the law, e-discovery issues, law and literature, and judicial research on the Internet, among other topics. A Supreme Court update was given by Erwin Chemerinsky, Founding Dean of the University of California Irvine School of Law.
Marchant, an ASU Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, Law and Ethics, frequently lectures about the intersection of law and science at national and international conferences. He has authored more than 60 articles and book chapters on various issues relating to emerging technologies. Among other activities, he has served on two National Research Council committees, has been the principal investigator on several major grants, and has organized numerous academic conferences on law and science issues.
