‘Arizona Republic’ notes College of Law's public school, legal writing program, overall rankings by 'U.S. News'

The improved rankings of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law by U.S. News & World Report were noted by The Arizona Republic in an article titled, “ASU law school ranked 8th in nation for public schools," published on March 22.
In addition to its public school ranking, the law school moved from 40 to 26 in the annual survey conducted by U.S. News, and its Legal Method and Writing Program rose to eighth from last year's 10th place.
The Republic article quotes Interim Dean Douglas Sylvester saying that the ranking is “recognition that we’ve been doing things the right way for some time.”
“We’re the only law school you’ll find anywhere near the top that went up in every single category that matters,” Sylvester told The Republic.

The Class of 2104 had the highest academic credentials in the law school's history, with the median score on the Law School Admission Test at 162, and the undergraduate grade-point average at 3.62. Judges and lawyers gave the law school a 3.5, compared to 3.2 in the 2012 survey, and law-school deans and professors around the nation ranked it 3.1, its highest peer score ever.
Clinical Professor of Law Tamara Herrera, coordinator of the legal-writing curriculum at the college, said the new ranking is gratifying. "It's very nice to be recognized by our peers for all the hard work that we've put in," she stated.
