Third-year law student Frank “Kyle” Robertson was recently featured in a State Press article, titled “Law student addresses Arizona Supreme Court.” It reported on Robertson’s appearance on behalf of the College of Law’s Homeowner Advocacy Unit (HAU).

In the Feb. 6 article, Robertson discussed how he spent his winter break drafting a recommendation for the case, and then presented his argument on Jan. 24.

“Traditionally, I don’t think law schools had a whole lot of programs where people participated in real-world scenarios, but ASU has just tons of clinical opportunities and real-world opportunities,” Robertson said.

Jean Braucher, a professor at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law who signed on with the brief and wrote revisions, said it was a “fabulous” experience for Robertson, and that he did a good job representing it.

Robertson is a student in the HAU, which opened its doors in August 2011 in response to the foreclosure crisis in Arizona. Student attorneys provide legal assistance to clients who have been victims of mortgage fraud or face wrongful foreclosure. He joined HAU after becoming interested in mortgage law while working with U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Charles Case in 2010.
