James G. Hodge Jr.

James G. Hodge Jr., ASU Lincoln Professor of Health Law and Ethics at the College of Law, has been appointed to the Policy Work Group of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee.

The committee advises the CDC director on policy issues and broad strategies that enable the CDC to fulfill its mission of protecting health through health promotion, prevention and preparedness. The committee recommends ways to prioritize CDC’s activities, improve results and address health disparities. It also provides guidance to help the CDC work more effectively with its various private and public sector constituents to make health protection a practical reality.

Hodge is Director of the Public Health Law Network – Western Region, Director of the Public Health Law and Policy Program at the College of Law, a Faculty Fellow in the Center for Law, Science & Innovation, an Affiliate Professor in Global Health, ASU School of Human Evolution & Social Change, and an Affiliate Faculty member in both the ASU School of Public Affairs and the ASU Department of Biomedical Informatics. Through scholarly and applied work, he delves into multiple areas of public health law, global health law, ethics, and human rights. Hodge teaches Health Law, Ethics, and Policy, Public Health Law and Ethics, and Global Health Law and Policy at the College of Law.
