Marchant to address 2011 Annual Judicial Conference in Utah

Gary Marchant
Professor Gary Marchant will speak at the 2011 Annual Judicial Conference, put on by the Utah Judicial Institute, in Midway, Utah on Friday, Sept. 16.
Marchant, ASU Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, Law and Ethics, will present “Emerging Technologies and the Future of Law,” which will highlight new technologies such as genetics, nanotechnology, neuroscience, surveillance and virtual reality, and their impact on future law challenges.
Marchant’s research interests include the use of genetic information in environmental regulation, risk and the precautionary principle, legal aspects of personalized medicine, and regulation of emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, neuroscience and biotechnology. He teaches courses in Environmental Law, Law, Science & Technology, Genetics and the Law, Biotechnology: Science, Law and Policy, and Nanotechnology Law & Policy. He also is a professor in ASU’s School of Life Sciences. Marchant frequently lectures about the intersection of law and science at national and international conferences.
