Rose, an ACMRS affiliate, traveled to the University of Cambridge to present a paper and attend a conference.
The paper, “Advocatorum Militia: The Chivalric Ethos of the Legal Profession—Loyalty and Honor,” highlighted two dominant norms of chivalry and the legal profession, loyalty and honor, but also speculated that the norms are not mutually inclusive.
Rose also spoke to the ACMRS study abroad program on the “Origins of the Anglo-American Legal System.” The program offers study opportunities in the history and culture of medieval Britain, as well as the Renaissance era, in classes taught by faculty from Cambridge, Arizona and elsewhere.
Rose is a Faculty Affiliate of the Arizona Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies at ASU. He is the author of numerous articles on legal history, antitrust, economic and occupational regulation, and legal ethics. He is a member of the Selden Society, the American Society of Legal History, the American Law Institute, and the BNA Antitrust and Trade Regulation Report Advisory Board. He is a life member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge.
