James G. Hodge Jr., ASU Lincoln Professor of Health Law and Ethics, was quoted in an article in The Arizona Republic by staff writer Ken Alltucker on Thursday, Nov. 1.

The article, titled “Medicare is Polarizing Arizona's Senior Voters,” explores the mixed feelings of aging healthcare recipients toward Obama’s Affordable Care Act and Romney’s long-term plan to reform Medicare.

Hodge says the issue is important to both candidates, and could have a direct impact on the outcome of the presidential election.

According to Hodge, Romney’s plan would focus on bringing the private sector back into the delivery of health-care services. Obama hopes to cut back Medicare costs by $716 billion by removing subsidies to private insurance companies, a move that most hospital groups support.
