On behalf of the Alumni Association, I am so excited to extend congratulations to the Class of 2013 and welcome you into the Alumni Association. We all extend our congratulations on this accomplishment, and wish all of you taking the bar examination this summer the best of luck.
I am happy to report that a number of successful and well-attended alumni events occurred this spring. I'd like to thank everyone who attended the recent mini-reunion for the Class of 1975. The Alumni Association's Annual Luncheon was also a great success, with a thoughtful and entertaining address highlighting the great history of the law school and its alumni by the distinguished former Ambassador Barbara Barrett. We appreciate her continued support of the law school and alumni. At this event, the Association welcomed three new board members: Michael Schon, Alastair Gamble and Nisha Noroian.
During the Annual Luncheon the Association announced a new scholarship named to honor the Hon. Redfield Baum, retired judge from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona. Judge Baum has served on the Association's board for a number of years and has been a constant supporter, mentor and leader in several law school initiatives. His contributions to the law school, the legal profession and the community are all recognized by this scholarship. The Association looks forward to continuing to honor his legacy in the future through this scholarship.
As we approach the summer and fall, we hope that you continue to show your support of the law school and reconnect with fellow alumni at a number of events. We look forward to seeing anyone who can make it to the Class of 1983 reception on Friday, May 17. Also, anyone in the Los Angeles area should mark their calendars for an ASU Breakfast Club event on June 13 at The Pacific Club.
The Alumni Association and Dean Sylvester continue to work together in finding new ways to honor and celebrate in the success of alumni. Our intent is to help celebrate alumni who serve as a model in the community, the profession and whose general contributions to society reflect positively on the law school and alumni. Please let us know of anyone deserving recognition, whether a friend, colleague, someone you know by reputation, or an opposing counsel whose professionalism, despite the adversarial relationship, exceeded your expectations.
