Advanced Writing Externship
The Advanced Writing Externship is a unique opportunity to vastly improve your legal research and writing skills in
civil cases
in the Maricopa County Superior Court. Students will work closely with the Honorable John Rea, Civil Presiding Judge, and several other Superior Court Civil Judges for either two or three credits (120-180 hours.) The externship is only open to third year law students. Selected externs review assigned dispositive motions and/or complex substantive motions, brief facts/issues in a preliminary memorandum as directed by assigned judge, attend oral arguments, discuss oral arguments with judges, and write final orders or memorandums. You may not take another externship or clinic in the same semester if selected. If you have any questions, please e-mail Jennifer Barnes, Director, Externship Program at
jennifer.barnes@asu.edu
or call 480-727-7331.
