Summer Use of Westlaw, LexisNexis, Loislaw, and CALI
Westlaw: You will have continued use of your Westlaw password during the summer (for educational purposes only). During the months of June and July you are allotted two hours of usage per month. To extend your Westlaw password beyond those two hours, fill out the summer extension access form at http://www.lawschool.westlaw.com. To access the form, login and then click on the Summer Access box located directly underneath the announcements section.
To qualify for a password extension, you must be enrolled in summer classes, working as a law professor’s research assistant, or doing work for a journal or moot court. Internships or externships that are associated with a class or paper project are also included. For specific questions, please contact christi.klein@thomson.com.
LexisNexis: To extend full LexisNexis access privileges during the summer you will need to register from the LexisNexis Law School web site. Click on the Update Your Registration link and then click on Register Now for Summer Access.
You must certify your legitimate use over the summer to be granted full access. One of the conditions listed below must be met:
- Summer School
- School-Related Research Assignment
- Moot Court Research
- Law Review or Journal Research
- Working as a Professor’s Research Assistant
- Non-Profit Externship
- Unpaid Internship/Externship

If you do not register, your LexisNexis law school ID will be limited to only career materials as of June 1, 2008. Graduating students will have summer access privileges extended to August 1, 2008. For specific questions, please contact suzanne.easter@lexisnexis.com.
Loislaw: Your password for Loislaw does not expire over the summer, and your use of Loislaw is not restricted to educational purposes. The access code and registration instructions for Loislaw can be found in our guide to Using Loislaw.
CALI : You may use CALI lessons over the summer. Check out the Legal Research and Legal Writing lessons on CALI and make sure to look at the lesson on Arizona Legal Research: Primary Sources, written by our own Beth DiFelice! The access code and registration instructions for CALI can be found in our guide to Using CALI.
